Bernard W. Hendricksen, 91, of Haddam, CT, formerly of Spring Hill, FL, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at home.
Born June 27, 1923 in Staten Island, NY he was the son of the late John B. and Caren (Bensen) Hendricksen. Bernard had worked for Met Life as an Auditing Supervisor and had proudly served his country in the US Army Air Force during WWII. Bernard was a member of Sons of Norway in both Florida and Connecticut and a member of Nativity Lutheran Church in Brooksville, FL.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian M. Hendricksen on February 13, 2011; a brother, Haakon; and a sister, Ruth Tergesen. Survivors include his son, Douglas (Theresa) Hendricksen of Colchester; daughter, Laurel (Michael) Zitowski of New Jersey; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A graveside service with Full Military Honors will be presented at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 29th at Zion Lutheran Church, 183 William Street, Portland, CT.
