Bernice Gorman, age 91, died Friday, April 27, 2012, at her home in Gaston, South Carolina. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Bernice spent 28 years as a military wife raising four children: her son, Charles Gorman and daughter-in-law, Pam Gorman, Charlotte, NC; her daughters, Carole Gerber and Gail Gorman, of Montgomery Village, MD; and her daughter, Pat Gorman, of Gaston, SC. She was a grandmother to nine and a great grandmother to eighteen. Ms. Bea was also a volunteer at the Swansea location of Lexington Medical Center. Memorial Contributions can be made in her memory to The Woodmen of the World, Lodge # 273, 3620 Augusta Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. Interment will be with her late husband, LT. Colonel Elmer R. Gorman, US Army, who passed away in 1988, at Arlington National Cemetery.

Mom’s wishes were that there not be a local service for her; and that her cremated remains be interred with Dad in Arlington National Cemetery at their earliest convenience, after the priority that all fallen soldiers past and present are layed to rest first. Ms. Bea’s family is forever indebted to her many friends and loved ones who have expressed their heartfelt sorrow for our tragic loss. Special thanks to “Shorty” for his thoughtfulness and caring.
It is not how many people you loved in your life – it is how many people loved you! And there were SO MANY people who genuinely loved my Mother! For all of you who shared a art of my Mothers life – I thank you from the depths of my heart!

Ronnie and I were so blessed to have spent time with Mrs. G, Gail and Pat at her home in S.C. several years ago. What a special lady! We enjoyed hearing about her time of working at a clothing store, her love of bingo, her church, her volunteer work and especially her bowling days. She showed us a large assortment of little bears she made to give away and we were grateful to take one home as well and so glad to have that memory of our visit with her. She has a special family and what an awesome blessing that you are together sharing your memories. She is smiling down at all of you – she loved her family. Please know all of you are in our prayers and thoughts and we know your faith is strong and God provides your strength and comfort.

I was saddened to hear of your Mom’s passing. She was such a great lady, always a lady. I always enjoyed our lunches together when she visited with you. I loved her zest for life and know she lived it to the fullest.
