Beryl Gilbert Corbitt, 78, passed away 6 October after a courageous battle with breast cancer and leukemia.
Better known as “B” to all who knew and loved her, she was born in Marlow England, married, then emigrated to the us in 1958. For over 20 years she was a loyal AF wife and upon moving to the area in 1972 worked at the Eglin AFB Officers Club, Ramada Inn and finally at Destin Middle School.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph, she is survived by her two daughters, Lorraine Gilbert Johnston (Richard) of Charleston SC and Donna Perry (Jim); son, Russell Gilbert (Cathy) of Fort Walton Beach; four grandchildren, Nate & Emily Johnston, Glenn (Amber) and Kevin Grishaber; great granddaughter, Lynex Grishaber of Hayesville, NC; as well as a loving extended family of brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws; nieces and nephews here in the U.S.; and cousins, David Dormer, his wife Beryl and their children James (Melanie), David, and Geoff of Reading, England.
The family wishes to thank Dr.s Chang, Henry, Harvey and their staff at the Emerald Coast Cancer Center for all of their support, encouragement and excellent health care provided during her illness, as well as Emerald Coast Hospice and their loving friends and neighbors .
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 956 Emily Circle, Ft. Walton Beach, FL with interment to follow at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 20th at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola. Friends and family are welcome.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to The Patient Access Network Foundation.

i am so very sorry for the loss of your mother. It is never easy to let go and say that final goodbye. Just remember the good memories and it’s ok to laugh at the stories your mom knows she was loved. She is always with you and doesn’t want you to be sad. Rejoice and be glad that you were lucky enough to have such a great mom
