Bradley Byers, 58 of Newark, NJ entered into eternal rest on September 23, 2012. By his request there will be no viewing he was cremated in a private ceremony held by the United States Navy in Portmouth, Virginia.
He was born on December 24, 1953 in Kings Mountain, NC one of 5 children to Theodore Byers and Cleo Catherine Hicks-Byers. He enlisted in the US Navy and served from 1971-1972.
He leaves behind one sister, Beverly Byers of Kings Mountain, NC, one brother, Michael Byers of Charlotte, NC, two children, Christopher Mercer and LaToya Dickey, 7 grandchildren, Christian Mercer, Diamond Mercer, Christopher Mercer, Tanae Stephens, Zakee Swann, Zahir Swann, Aniya Swann and a host of nieces, great nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution be sent in his name to:
