Carl “Veep” Berginc, Jr., 73, of Pinellas Park, FL, died Sat., March 6, 2010 as a result of an automobile accident.
He left his native Greensburg, PA in 1978. He was a field service engineer for Honeywell and retired from Computervision, Maitland, FL. He also owned several bars and an ice cream store on Indian Rocks Beach. Later, he drove school buses for the Pinellas County School Board. He was a former member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and served in the USMC earning the rank of Corporal. He was a member of the American Legion in Claridge, PA. He was an avid golfer and played softball with the Woodlawn Senior League.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Linda; 3 sons: Michael and Stephen of Tarpon Springs, FL and Carl F. III of Dunedin, FL; a daughter: Jennifer and husband, L.C. Jones of Lakeland, FL; a brother: Charles of Immokalee, FL; 3 sisters: Geraldine “Deannie” Cheplick of Claridge, Patricia Papson and Rose Marie Little, both of Greensburg; a granddaughter: Julia Jones; and best friend, Reno Vesco.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30PM at Gulf Coast Church, 13301 Walsingham Road, Largo, FL (corner of Vonn Rd.) on Sunday, March 14, 2010. A Funeral Mass will be 7 PM on Wed., March 24th at St. Paul’s Parish, 820 Carbon Road, Greensburg, PA 15601. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to R' Club, 4140 49th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33709.

Our family was saddened to hear of the loss of Carl. I remember him as a generous person with his friends and family. I enjoyed him as a coach in baseball many years ago. I fondly remember our days of shooting pool at the house. God Bless!

A sudden unexpected loss of a family member can truly be an overwhelming tradgedy. You can never be prepared for such an event. It comes with great sadness to learn of the passing of Carl Berginc Jr. as I read the obituary in today’s Greensburg Tribune Review dated 03142010. On behalf of the entire Daum family, we would like to offer our condolences to a truly wonderful family whom we had the pleasure of knowing many years ago.
