Mrs. Carmeline Ceraolo Russo, 91, a native of Clearwater, and part of the pioneer Ceraolo Family, died August 13, 2012, under the loving care of family, Suncoast Hospice, and Harbourwood Health and Rehab staff.
Carmeline was one of 12 children born to Carmel and Rosa Versaggi Ceraolo, who arrived in this area in 1909. They were the first Italian settlers in Pinellas County. She attended South Ward Elementary School, Clearwater Junior High and graduated from Clearwater High School, Class of 1937. She was a lifetime member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church and the Italian American Club. She worked in the family business, Three Oaks Market on Myrtle Avenue.
She is survived by her two brothers, Carmel Ceraolo, Palm Harbor and Albert Ceraolo, Clearwater. Although she had no children of her own, she had 19 nieces and nephews: Renee Leandri, Rosanne Leandri Ryan, Rick Leandri, Ron DeCarolis, Tom Sabella, Linda Sabella, Rosemarie Ceraolo-O’Donnell, Cindy Ceraolo Harris, Lisa Ceraolo Miyares, Paul Ceraolo, Mark Ceraolo, Susan Ceraolo Pickles, Shirley Ceraolo Lovelace, Bill Ceraolo, John Ceraolo, Sam Ceraolo, Cheryl Ceraolo Szewczyk, Teresa Ceraolo and Ruth Ceraolo. She also was blessed with many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 2 pm at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760.
