Charles F. Hoagland Jr., 72, SGM-US Army-Retired-of Hernando, FL funeral servicers are 11:00 AM, Friday-February 8, 2008 at the 1st Christian Church, 7030 West Grover Cleveland Blvd., Homosassa Springs, FL 34446 with Preacher Bob Miller, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 AM until service time. Full military honors and graveside services are 2:00 PM, Friday afternoon, February 8, 2008 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with the United States Army Military Funeral Honors Team. Charles passed away on February 4, 2008 at the Hernando Pasco Hospice Center in Inverness, FL of natural causes. During the SGM military career, he served as a infantryman and a US Army Recruiter and his military awards are: National Defense Medal, Master Parachute Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Parachute Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Civil Actions Medal 1st Class, Meritorious Service Medal 2n Oak Leaf Cluster, US Army Gold Recruiter Badge with 3 Sapphire Stars, Good Conduct Award 8th Award, 3 Overseas Bars, Army Commendation Medal with V Device and the US Army Commendation Medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster. A native of Tavares, FL and a local resident of Hernando since 2004, when he moved here from Milton, FL; he was a retired SGM in the US Army; a founder and instructor of the ROTC Program in Lecanto High School, Lecanto, Florida; a "Green Beret"; a former Deacon and Sunday School Director and a present member of 1st Christian Church in Homosassa Springs, FL; the former President and Life member of the Special Forces Association , Florida Chapter # 21 serving two terms as president; a member of the Armed Forces Top Enlisted Association; a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran; a member of the sons of American Revolution; a member of the American Legion, Special Operation Association; DAV; VFW and the ELKS Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Sharon of Hernando, FL; a son, Charles F. Hoagland III of Melbourne, FL; three daughters: Christa Pruitt of Navarre, FL; Malisa Roach and her husband, Tom of Apopka, FL and Debbie Wetherington and her husband, Basil of Englewood, FL; a brother, Walter Hoagland and his wife, Bunny of Eustis, FL; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
