Veterans Funeral Care Charles Cheer

CPO Charles R. Cheer, USCG Ret., 79, of Pinellas Park, passed away on Thurs., November 29, 2012 at Hospice House Woodside.  He was a survivor of prostate cancer and battled lung and brain cancer.

Born in Winding Gulf, WV, he moved to Florida in the early 1950’s. Charlie was a US Navy veteran of Korean and a US Coast Guard veteran of Vietnam. He retired after 22 years of service in 1973. He was the Dock Master at Admiral Farragut Academy and assisted with sailing lessons for more than 12 years.  He was a member of American Legion Post 273, Madeira Beach and VFW Post 10137, Bushnell. He enjoyed boating, fishing, Buccaneer Football, and spending time with his family. 

Charlie was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Pat; three sons, Michael (Gabi) of Seminole, Kevin (Zora) of So. Pasadena, and Joseph (Lynn) of Webster, FL.

Visitation for friends and family will begin at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at Cornerstone Community Church, 6745 38th Ave N, St. Petersburg. Services will follow at 12:30 PM. Interment with military honors will be presented at 12:30 PM on Thursday at FL National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell (exit 309 off I-75).
