Clyde E. Rafferty, 74, of Seminole, Florida, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008. He was born October 7, 1933 in Spencer, Indiana to Ira and Pauline Rafferty.
A US Marine Corp Sgt. and veteran of the Korean War, Clyde served from 1953 to 1956.
He qualified as Expert Rifleman and served proudly on the Marine Corp Rifle Team. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association Honor Guard Suncoast Chapter 14.
A former resident of Bridgman, Michigan he married Carol Ann Germain October 17, 1959. He was employed as a lineman for the Michigan Bell Telephone Company and Indiana and Michigan Electric Company; he retired from the LaSalle Federal Savings and Loan as Assistant Vice President in 1989 and for the next 11 years was proprietor of Sea Haven Resort, Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.
He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Largo, Florida, and is survived by Carol Rafferty, wife of 48 years; sister Georgia Tucker, Bloomington, Indiana; brother David Karen Rafferty, Tampa, Florida; sister Janice Rafferty, Bloomington, Indiana; and 2 sons Cheston C. Victoria Rafferty, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Curtis S. Rafferty Karyn, Bowling Green, Kentucky, and 4 grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Heather, and Caitlyn.
Graveside services will be held at 9:15 on Friday, March 7, at Bay Pines National Cemetery with a memorial service held at 11:00 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Largo, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Christ the King Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 11220 Oakhurst Road, Largo, Florida, 33774 or Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 N. Church St., Bridgman, Michigan, 49106.
