Leave a condolence
Daniel and Richard,
Please accept my since condolences with the loss of your father. You dad and I were neighbors, friends and members of Suncoast Van Club for many years. We shared a lot of great times and I will hold on to those memories. I sincerely hope that your fond memories will help you thru the days to come.
Again, my since condolences.
Jerry
Hello Daniel and Richard,
Your father was my teacher at Pinellas Park Jr. High School in 1962. He also coached me in soccer while I was there.
I wound up playing soccer for many years with the St. Pete Kickers soccer team. Several years passed by and your father had changed schools and went to Bay Point Middle School. He was coaching soccer at Bay Point Middle School and the team was playing for the Middle School Soccer Championship. Your father asked me to work with his goalkeeper for the upcoming game. He also asked Norbert Mueller to help with the team. The BayPoint goalkeeper blocked a penalty kick and Bay Point won the game. Your dad was very exhited, to say the least.
I know your father had heart surgery a few years ago. I had gone to the hospital to see him. He was optimistic and feeling good that he would make a full recovery. He enjoyed life and after 40 years of teaching, I know he touched the lifes of many of his students. He touched mine and I will always remember his smile and the enthusiasm he expressed in what ever he was doing at the time.
I want to offer my condolences and let you know he will be missed.
My deepest sympathy to the family. I have many fond memories of Dan at Bay Point and will always remember him as he brought joy to others in his Santa suit. Although he will be missed, he is in a very special place now.
Very sorry for the loss of your Father. You are in our prayers.

Dan Smith was one of the 1st people that I met as I began my teaching journey at Bay Point Middle. As a Social Studies teacher he made history alive. My deepest sympathy to his family. I know his colorful personality will surely be missed.
Dan was one of a kind.
My condolences go out to his family.
Dan’s career as a cornerstone of the Bay Point Middle School community spanned 35 years, of which I was a part of for 11 12.
