Darven W. Oothoudt, 78, S/Sgt.-United States Air Force-Korean War Veteran, funeral services are 2:30 PM, Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S/W 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513 with the Marion County Military Honor Guard, to officiate. Darven died on January 22, 2009 at the Melech Hospice House, Temple Terrace, FL with his family at his bedside.
A native of Winnebago, MN and a local resident since 1998, when he moved here from West St. Paul, MN; he was a catholic; a meat cutter for Super-Value; a member of the American Legion and a member of the meat cutters union. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Catherine Oothoudt of Tampa, FL; three sons: Thomas Oothoudt and his wife, Rose of Seattle, WA; Timothy Oothoudt of Palm Harbor, FL and Patrick Oothoudt of Seattle, WA; five daughters: Catherine Kirby of Tampa, FL; Susan York and her husband, Lewis of Longmont, CO; Karon Curtis and her husband, Rich of Clinton, AR; Teresa Oothoudt and her fiance Scott Bradley of Dunedin, FL and Rebecca Hinsch and her husband, Michael of Tampa, FL; a brother, Jack Oothoudt and his wife, Elvina of Winnebago, MN; a sister, Avis Johnson and her husband, Perry of Denver, CO; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
For the last four years Darven and Catherine Oothoudt lived and were taken care of by Rebecca Hinsch and her husband, Michael, his daughter and son-in-law, their loving caretakers. Please assemble at the cemetery from 2:00 PM until service time and all floral arrangements are sent directly to the cemetery.

I will miss Darven’s phone calls…he had such a genuineness in his caring for others…especially for his sister Avis, my mom!
One of my favorite memories is the ’Cousin’s Reunion’ in 1996 in Winnebago, Minnesota…Darven’s jolly laugh could be heard from anywhere!

To all of Darven’s family, my sympathy goes out to you. Darven and I graduated from high school together. I haven’t seen him for quite awhile but have good memories of him.
I haven’t seen my grandfather in years and it saddens me that he is gone. I loved him and all of the times I spent with him and Grandma back in West St. Paul, MN. He will be missed by all of the people that loved him. I love you Grandpa.
