Dock Brown, Sr.

Dock Brown, Sr.

Veterans Funeral Care Dock Brown, Sr.

On Wednesday, January 29, 2014 our father, friend, loved one, Dock Brown, Sr., took his last breath.

Dock, 94, of Tampa, FL, was born in Darlington, South Carolina on August 10, 1919 and was raised by his mother, Annie Walker; grandmother, Lucinda Purvis; and grandfather, Sandy Heart. Growing up in the south during the depression, he found many challenges but, with God, found a way out.  He joined the United States Navy in 1940 before WWII started and stayed into 1945. After he served his country, he journey to New York to find work. Once there, he found a self-taught GED book and earned his GED. Then he began working as a New York Transit employee and was promoted to a Supervisor,  retiring in the 1970s. He moved to Florida; and soon after his arrival, changes were made and executed. He loved the community and helping people. He would spend his time either with his family or working on a neighbor house or yard. He never believed in retiring.  It was just more time to do things that he loved.

Mr. Dock Brown Sr. was a loving father, who would do anything for his children and defend them from any harm.  He is survived by children: LeRoy Brown, Dock Brown Jr., Gregory Brown, Roderick Brown, Richard Brown, and Seretha Brown; his grandchildren: Aerionna Bell-Brown, Alaya Brown and “Baby” Brown; his nieces and nephews and his love ones.

Things that he would like you to remember and always would say, “God loves His people”, and “Never give up”. He loved many and was loved by many, but more importantly he was loved by God. We love you and will always miss you.

Sunrise August 10,1919 and sunset January 29, 2014.
