Donald A. Boettger, 92, had his last wish granted when entered in Heaven on November 9, 2009 at the Woodside Hospice House, Pinellas Park, Florida. He was a former Williamsport resident until 2 years ago when he relocated to Florida to live with his daughter.

Don was born on January 18, 1917 in Wilkes Barre, Pa. He was a graduate of Kingston High School and Warton College. He was honorably discharged from the Army Air Corp after serving in the China Burma, India Theater during WWII. He was a member of various organizations in the Williamsport area. He joined the Order Of Demolay in 1934 and then proceeded into the Masons. He was a member of Eureka Blue Lodge 335 of Montoursville and past Worshipful Master. He was also a Noble of the Mystic Shrine and a Prophet of Zafar Grotto. He was a former board member of Franklin Federal Savings and Loan of Wilkes Barre. Mr. Boettger was administrator at the former Lysock View County Nursing Home, Montoursville,Pa. until his retirement.

Don was a daily customer of the Bonanza Steakhouse for many years and was known not by name but to many as the “Jokeman” or the “The man who was always working in his yard on Clayton Avenue”.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna L. Boettger of St. Petersburg, Fl., his son, George A. Boettger (Gloria) of Dunedin, Fl., and step-daughter, Loretta Waite of Latrobe, Pa., 4 grand-daughters, all in Florida. 8 great-grandchildren including Glenn Peters and Andrew Gipe of S. Williamsport, and 4 great, great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Mabel Titus Boettger, baby sister Daris, his wife of 38 years and mother of his children, the former Margaret E. Wills, his wife of 22 years, the former Kathryn Lynn Shope, his son Glenn B., and his grand-daughter, Sheree L. Snyder.

Burial will be in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville, Pa. A memorial service will be held in the near future at the family’s convenience.
