Veterans Funeral Care Donald Johnson

Donald L. Johnson, 72, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, October 4, 2008. He received two undergraduate degrees from Drexel University and St. Leo University and a Master’s Degree from the University of South Florida. Donald served in the US Army for 24 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. Along with his stateside assignments, he served in Panama, Taiwan, Vietnam and Turkey. The highlight of his military career was when he served in the White House as Assistant to National Security Advisor, Richard V. Allen, during the Reagan administration. Donald ended his working career as Finance Director for the YWCA of Tampa Bay for ten years-a position he cherished as he was part of a team of dedicated staff who served the St. Petersburg community. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Marilyn; his son, James Jim; his daughter, Patricia Patty; brother, William Bill; three grandchldren: Jeremy, Justin and Jordan; and two nieces and two nephews. Memorial services will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 10:45am.
