Doris J. Nicholls, 92 of Largo, FL formerly of Smithon, PA passed away Friday, April 2, 2010 at Woodside Hospice Center, Largo, FL. Born April 2, 1918 in Scottsdale, PA she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mabel Porter. She was married to the Late George W. (Shorty) Nicholls until his death in October 1978.
She was a homemaker and former member of the Winnett United Methodist Church, Smithton PA. She was a loving mother, enjoyed reading, traveling, bowling, and loved watching football and golf on TV, but most importantly, she was devoted to her family and friends. Doris and her late husband relocated to Florida in October 1977 to enjoy retirement.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law: Marlene and Robert Brand of The Villages, FL, Judy Herman of Largo, FL and Tammy and Mitch Bjugson of Peachtree City, GA; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Viewing will be held Friday at LL Barthels Funeral Home, Smithton from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday at LL Barthels Funeral Home with burial following at Rehobeth Cemetery, Belle Vernon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Winnett United Methodist Church, 3rd Street, Smithton, PA 15479.
