Duane "Red" Klapprodt, of Dixon, IL died on December 23, 2007 at the Iowa City VA Medical Center, Iowa City, IA. An open house memorial gathering to remember the life of Duane will begin at 6:00 PM, Thursday evening, January 10, 2008 at the Loveland Community House, 513 West 2nd Street, Dixon, IL 61021 and concluding at 8:00 PM. Graveside military services will be held at 2:30 PM, January 11, 2008 at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, Bldg. 118, Rock Island, IL 61299 with the Rock Island Military Honor Guard and Chaplin Jim Joseph, officiating. For the military service, please form a procession at the Moline Gate entrance for Rock Island, IL and all personnel over 18 years of age, must have a picture ID. Duane was a native of Burns, OR and a carpenter; he believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War that served as a Tank Crew Man on the Sherman Tanks. He loved to fish and was well known for it. He held the record for the largest Muskie caught in IL, in 1990. He caught the prize fish in Dixon below the dam. He is survived by his son, Chet Klapprodt and his wife, Heather of Dixon, IL; a daughter, Erin McClean of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, Roy Klapprodt of Sterling, IL; two sisters, Cheryl Nielson of Rock Falls, IL and Shirley Wyss of Burns, OR and five grandchildren.
