Elliott E. Mellen, 75, US Army Veteran of Winter Haven, Florida funeral service is 1:30 PM, Monday, November 19, 2012 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S/W 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 with the Marion County Military Honor Guard, to officiate.
A native of West New York, NJ and a local resident since 1978, when he moved here from West New York, he was a retired letter carrier for the US Post Office. After his retirement, he worked for Winn Dixie in the produce department and then became a School Crossing Guard for the Polk County Sheriff Department. He was a Catholic and during his military career, he was promoted to the rank of S/Sgt and was discharged from Ft. Benning, Georgia as a Radio Repairman.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Winter Haven, Florida; his children: Lance Freund of West Haven, Utah; Cheryl Bonner of Arkansas, Michele Reed of Winter Haven, Florida, Maria Klawitter of Ocala, Florida and Tracy Brown of Winter Haven, Florida and thirteen grandchildren.
