Emmitt C. Gurley, 78 and his wife, Lubow funeral services are 2:15 PM, March 29, 2010 at Bay Pines VA National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, FL 33774 with Chaplain Bud Burkett and the VFW Post 9272 providing full military honors.
Emmitt passed away on February 17, 2010 at St Anthony’s Hospital, St Petersburg, FL and his wife, Lubow passed away November 25, 2005 at the Bay Front Medical Center. Emmitt was a retired Greyhound Bus Driver for 40 years, played basketball as a center; drove modified stock cars and was a golf caddy for President Eisenhower, while he was in the service. Emmitt was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean War his job in the military was an Aircraft Hydraulic Mechanic. He was stationed at Chanute AFB, Illinois, Sheppard AFB, Texas and Hunter Air Force Base, Georgia.
Emmitt and Lubow are survived by a daughter, Sheila Servin of Oklahoma City, eight nieces and nephews in North Carolina and his friends, Joyce Scott and Melindy Neve, both of St. Petersburg, FL.
Please assemble at the cemetery between 1:45 and 2:15 PM, on the day of the service and send all floral arrangements directly to the cemetery.
