Enrique “Henry” Lopez, Jr., 78, of Bowie, MD, died February 1at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD and following a prolonged illness.
Henry was born on November 13, 1933 in El Paso TX, to Enrique and Elvira Lopez. He graduated from Woodbury Business College in Los Angeles, CA and also served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Germany. He retired from a 34-year career with Fannie Mae as a Senior Manager, working in both Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. He was a long time resident of Bowie where he lived with his wife, Ethel Lopez, married for 52 years. He also resided in Mexico as a child with his grandparents, El Paso with his parents and Los Angeles with his wife and son.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel, son, Kenneth E. David Lopez, daughter in-law Marylouise Lopez, both of Bowie, grandchildren, Alexander Lopez of Laurel, Robert and Kenneth Lopez both of Bowie, nephews and nieces, Michael Robles, of Ensenda, Mexico, Suzi Carreon, of Monrovia, CA, Laurie Jerome, of Miles City, MT, Karla Thielen of Baker, MT, Kimberly Wheadon of Forsythe, MT, James Russell Jr. of Billings, MT, Glen Gable, Greg Gable and Denise Ornburn all of Kent, WA.
He was predeceased by his parents, sister Gloria Robles, her husband Ruben Robles and nephew Jeffery Robles of Los Angeles, CA.
Henry was a loving spouse, flawless father and caring grandfather that took time to nurture the growth and quality of the lives he touched. He coached basketball and baseball for the Bowie Boys and Girls Club in the seventies and enjoyed traveling across the country with his family.
A private, family service will be held at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. A memorial fund for contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
