Veterans Funeral Care Ernest Beese

 

Ernest A. Beese, 81, of Dunedin, Fla., formerly of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 11 in his home after a long bout with cancer.

 

A strong supporter of youth baseball, Mr. Beese coached in and organized several youth baseball leagues in the south suburbs of Chicago, where he lived the majority of his life. He was a founder and former president of the Southeast Suburban Baseball League, which was started to provide baseball for 16- to 18-year-olds in the Chicago suburbs.

 

A tile contractor, Mr. Beese ran his own business, B/Z Tile Co., for several years. His firm installed the flooring in many schools, homes, businesses and shopping malls in the Chicago area. In retirement, he was an expert source for home-improvement articles which appeared on ehow and other Web sites.

 

Moving to Florida in the mid-1990s, he settled in St. Petersburg. He moved to Dunedin in 2001 when he wed his wife, Shirley.

 

He was an Army veteran and a member of Clearwater First Assembly of God Church.

 

Interment will be at 10:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10,000 Bay Pines Blvd., St. Petersburg, FL 33708.

 

In addition to his wife, Shirley, Mr. Beese is survived by his two sons, Gary (Lori) of Largo, Fla. and Kevin (Patti) of Glen Ellyn, Ill; a brother, Don (Ann) of Michigan City, Ind.; five grandchildren, Craig, a captain in the U.S. Army; Mark of Lansing, Ill.; and Sarah, Aaron and Meghan, all of Glen Ellyn; and several nieces and nephews.
