We enjoyed knowing Gene since he married Vivian. We also enjoyed our times with him and Viviab since we moved to FL 8 years ago. We enjoyed his stories of his times on the sea and in the air. We also enjoyed his good Christian witness and example.
I am very saddened to learn of Gene’s passing. I enjoyed many wonderful experiences with he and Vivian over 18 years. We created some wonderful projects didn’t we?
He certainly is and will be, an outstanding person!!!
You will be in my thoughts and prayers Vivian.
Mr. Gene Olson ’Lt. Olson’ you were truly a great family friend, nieghbor and one of my greatest mentors in the Civil Air Patrol. As a Civil Air Patrol cadet I will forever remember how you went above to be there for advice and support. You and your wife always welcomed me into your home when I would ride or drive by. I’m truly saddend for the loss of a great friend and look forward to seeing you in heaven. You will be missed and thank you for the great memories.
Aaron, Isaac and I will miss “Grandpa Gene” very much. But we know he is breathing freely with the Lord and are thankful for that.
Dan and I are very, very sad that Gene is gone on to Heaven. We will miss him so much although we do know that he is healed and he is free from the anxiety of not being able to breathe. We look forward to spending eternity with him and the Lord.
Gene was our friend for many years. A tireless worker with Men’s Ministries at church and a love for youth, he mentored many young men suffering various difficulties. His warm smile and go-getter attitude endeared him to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
We will miss our dear friend, Gene. But rejoice knowing that he has finished his course and kept the faith and is with the Lord. He and Vivian were good family friends and we enjoyed many times of fellowship. On our first accquaintance, Gene reached out to our son Malcolm and myself. His constant faith and love for the Lord was exemplary.
Gene Olsen was one of the people I always admired from my time in CAP. He was the one of the best we had. His example of volunteerism should set the bar for the rest of us. I am so sorry I didn’t know sooner. Prayers.
Major Olson was one of the first Aerospace mentors I had in CAP. He was the kind of person who fired your passion and fuled your desire to learn. I will never forget the first C-130 flight we took together to St Lewis back in the 90’s. CAP and myself will truely miss Major Eugen Olson. Farewell my friend!

I knew Gene through Bill & Juni Dunklin in the 1970’s, while I was in Florida for a season. I remember that he was always full of fun, good cheer, and warmth ~ full of the Holy Spirit. I’m sure his family will miss him very much, but can take comfort in the fact that this separation is only temporary. Warmly in the Lord, Chris Schmitt
So sorry to hear this sad news. We got to know Eugene and Vivian well through the RVOC meetings in the 90s. You couldn’t wish for a more kind and friendly couple. We send our sincere condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed.
I served with Gene at 2 CAP encampments at Eglin and participated in many other activities where he was present. Gene loved the cadets, and they knew it. My heart is saddened today to learn of his passing. I never saw Gene without a smile, and I will always remember him that way. I am honored to have known him and know that he considered me his friend.
My condolences to Vivian (always will remember her in her clown outfit when we had a Fla Wing meeting in St. Pete where she showed up after she had been at an activity) and to all the rest of Gene’s family. He was one of a kind!
I knew Gene in the 70s from the Father’s House, a young men’s discipleship house ministry in St.Pete. His clean-cut look contrasted quite a bit to our early 20-something hippie looks, but he was a brother, faithful and true. Godspeed, brother.
April and I were deeply saddened to learn of Gene’s passing.
We had the pleasure of knowing and working with Gene and Vivian in the Ocreanographic Research
community for many years. He was always upbeat, optimistic and smiling. Gene was always ready to
pitch and help resolve mutual problems and make things better. Being around this wonderful couple
always lifted our spirits — a perfect match. We will miss Gene but we will always remember
his friendship, sunny outlook and love for Vivian.
We remember Gene from our times together in the ’70s. A loving generous gentleman
