Francis “Buddy” Musto, 76, of Clearwater, Florida.
Loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on Monday, January 4, 2010.
Buddy, as he was fondly known by his family and friends, was born in Oakwood, Staten Island, New York on February 10, 1933. Upon graduating from St. Peters High School for Boys, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his beloved country from 1952 to 1956. As an aircraft electrician, Buddy saw duty on the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier while on a World Cruise during the Korean Conflict. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, Buddy entered the field of elevator mechanics and spent the better part of his successful career until retirement employed by the City of New York Housing Authority as Chief Elevator Mechanic.
Many that knew Buddy will remember him as a kind, friendly and out-going individual with his own special way of doing things complemented by his unique reference to things which the family proudly coined, “Buddyisms.” An avid sports fan, he was especially loyal to the game of baseball and loved the game as it was meant to be played when it was just a game. Always with his wife, Maureen, by his side, Buddy loved to travel the seven seas and relished visits to Europe and especially the Emerald Island of Ireland. With a strong passion for life, he was always the center of a good time had by all.
Buddy is survived by his beloved wife, Maureen nee O’Connell; his son, Frank, daughter-in-law, Janie, and grandchildren, Tyler and Spencer; his daughter, Laureen, son-in-law Paul Segreto, and grandchildren, Paul Jr and wife, Erin, Kristen, Brad and Jennifer; his son Steven; and his daughter, Kathy, son-in-law, John Watkins, and grandchildren, John and Megan.
Memorial services to be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Clearwater, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations to Suncoast Hospice are greatly appreciated.

We lost a one-of-a-kind man… Buddy and I enjoyed both happy and sad times together like father and son, we laughed and joked like fraternity brothers, we worked side-by-side like long-time coworkers, and most importantly, and to my greatest honor, we spoke with each other like the truest of friends… Sorry, guys, the mold was broken when they made a father-in-law like Buddy Musto… I’ll miss him dearly.
I love and miss you!!!
My father was the greatest man I’ve ever known. I will forever hold in my heart the wonderful memories, great times, and his fun loving spirit. I love you Dad and will forever miss you!
I had the pleasure to meet Buddy a few years ago and he was one of a kind. My sincere condolences to the family…
I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting Mr. Musto and his lovely wife- through Kathy, my sister-in-law, they were both fun to be around and always a smile on his face. He must be proud.
With much love.
Buddy was a great man we were so very fortunate and privileged to know over the past few years. We will miss him dearly!
Bud was the nicest guy you’d ever want to meet!
Dad was one of kind! He lived life to the fullest always had a great time in everything he did. Mom would always tell me that she couldn’t get over how happy he was every day. He would wake up in the morning with a smile and whistling as he went through his morning routine. Because of him I have fanatical passion for baseball as do my sons. He will be missed by anyone who ever met him. Words can’t describe what he meant to me.
My Dad was the greatest man I ever knew!! He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed living life to the fullest. Always a smile for everyone. I will miss him dearly everyday of my life. I know he is watching over us with a smile…I love and miss you Dad.
