CMS Frank Robert Batory, USAF, Ret., 90, of Treasure Island, FL passed away on Monday night, December 2, 2013 at Sabal Palms Health Care Center in Largo.
Born in Chicago, IL, he moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1993. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, St. Pete Beach. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII, serving aboard the USS Bangust (De739) and the USS Markab (AD-21). From 1947 until his retirement in 1968, he served in the US Air Force. He was awarded many medals, including the Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam. He was an active member of American Legion Post #158, Treasure Island.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Sweiss. Survivors include his two brothers, Anthony of Palos Hills, IL and James, Jr. of Arizona; sister, Florence Dodczyk of Chicago; his caregivers Lindy Walczak and her sons, Rick and Ben; and 25 nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, December 13, 2013 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church with Father Victor Amorose, 45 82nd Avenue, St. Pete Beach. Military Honors will be presented by MacDill Air Force Base at 2:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
