Gary Allen Singer, son of the late Julius and Frances Singer and brother of the late Larry Singer, passed away peacefully on July 29th at the age of 68 after a heroic battle with cancer. Former Washington, D.C./Maryland resident, Gary attended Coolidge High School and moved to Florida in 2007 from McLean, VA.

He served his country as a captain in the Army Medical Service Corps from 1966-1970, He served in Vietnam from Sept 1968- Sept 1969. In 1970, after the birth of his only child, Dina, with his first wife Irene (Renee) Blanken, to whom he was married for 18 years and remained friends and loyal partners in raising Dina, he used GI bill funds to get his Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration from George Washington University, graduating in 1972. He served as Associate Hospital Administrator at Bon Secours Hospital in Baltimore for many years. He did the Werner Erhard EST Training in 1979 and loved participating at the Washington DC Center. He left Hospital Administration and joined WE&A staff just before it shifted into Landmark Education Corp in 1990. He moved to Florida for the warm winters and friends. There he connected with the Tampa Landmark community and felt a deep sense of being home. Before he became ill, he worked for the Laser Spine Institute where he was treated him like family. After learning of his illness, they were a constant source of care and support.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Dina Singer; sister, Barbara Jennai; and nieces, nephew, and many Betman and Singer cousins. At his request, he will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held sometime in September, 2011.
