George Robert Kirby, USAF CMsgt. Ret., 75, of Brandon, FL passed away at the Sun City Center Hospice House, Sun City Center, FL on December 15, 2007 after a lengthy illness. George moved to Brandon in 1994 from Wichita, Kansas after proudly serving 23 years in the USAF and then a second career with Boeing Military Aircraft company.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Juanita Kirby; daughters: Elizabeth Vining, New Orleans, LA; Nancy Kirby, Brandon, FL; Cheryl Kirby Pugh, Saint Petersburg, FL; sons-in-law Stephen Harrison, Lafayette, LA; Dep. Walter R. Brown, Jr., Dover, FL; Craig Pugh, Saint Petersburg, FL. Grandchildren: Stephanie Roshto, Brian & Amy Harrison, Courtnie & Hubbell Heltz, Amanda Brown, CJ Pugh, Justin Kirby, Casey Pugh, Amanda Vela, Blake Vining and Charlie Pugh. Great-grandchildren Micah, Devontae, Sarah, and Haylie. He is also survived by his beloved cousin, Catherine Melrose and her family. George was a father to many people in his life, especially David & Judy Goodsell of Wichita, KS. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Harvey and Bernice Kirby, as well as other dear relatives and friends with whom now he is together again.
A celebration of his life is planned for Friday, 12/21/2007, 10:45am, at Bay Pines Veterans Cemetery in Saint Petersburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to LifePath Hospice.

Beatitudes–Their Significance And Meaning
They are simply stated, but are profound in meaning. They guide. They point. They teach. They show us the values that Christ cares about. These values if followed, can not only bring a believer into a state of peace and happiness, but also right into the Kingdom of God after our journey on this earth is over.
The Latin word for blessed is beatus, from which we get the word beatitude.
The beatitudes are found at Matthew 5: 3-12
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they shall possess the earth.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are they who suffer persecution for justice sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
I cannot express how saddened I was to find out about George. I had the pleasure of working with him and since his retirement we would send jokes back and forth. Once in awhile I would get George to fill me in on how he and his family were doing but he never told me that he was so ill. I will always have fond memories of him. My sincere condolences to all of you. George was a super guy.
May the Lord Bless you and keep you in your time of need. George will be truely missed.
A life is like a song we write in our own tone and key,Each life we we tuch reflects a note that forms the the melody. We choose the theme and chorus of the song to bear our name. And each will have a special sound, no one can be the same..So when someone we love departs. In memory we find their song plays on within the hearts of those they leave behind. May the quite places of your heart be filled with sweet echoes of love and memory. Jan and my friendship go back with Kibys for 47 years. George was the best friend we ever had.
It has been many years since I have seen him but he is always in my memories. I remember the days that Justin and I would draw on his belly with markers and the many nights of me staying the night. He will be greatly missed.

Mr. George was always with his lovely wife, Mrs. Juanita. You could see how he looked at her with joy and happiness, even when Maggie the dog and I would pass by and had his little ones bark at us. Sorry for that. Thank you for being so patient with us even with all the noise. Be strong Mrs. Juanita and if you need some entertainment or a talk, Maggie and I are just around the corner for you and the little ones!

I never knew a heart could keep on beating after being broken so badly. I never knew you could feel such pain without a bruise, a cut or a scrape to show for it. I do know my father was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. My sweet and gentle daddy, I love and miss you so deeply.

But always a challenge on that flight line at Ellsworth. Those were the good old days. I willalways reember that last time we were ogether at the Museum in Dayton
I don’t know if you knew or not but I just got out of the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix yo have an Aneurism repaired on my main artery. Iwas in icu for 12 days . I am just starting to be able to get out and walk a little each day. We are still in AZ and will be here until around 1 April
