Harry J. Romano of Haines City, FL, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the age of 89. Harry was born on January 15, 1921 and had been a resident of Haines City since 1999. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Dominic and Santa Romano, Italian immigrants and had one sibling, Anna Brattini, who predeceased him in June 1993.
He married Rita Brino on May 14, 1944 in Philadelphia while serving in World War II in the Army Air Corp. Upon his discharge from the service, he attended Temple Pharmacy School in Philadelphia and his career as a pharmacist included owning his own drug store in Philadelphia and then working as Director of Pharmacy for Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point, NJ while living in Ocean City, NJ. He and his family lived in the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey area until 1976 when he and Rita decided to head south to pursue their love of golf and warmer weather.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rita, Haines City, FL; his children Sandra (William) Nelson of Davenport, FL; Dominic (Alison) Romano of Baltimore, MD; and Anthony (Renee) Romano of Boca Raton, FL. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grand children.
