Veterans Funeral Care Harvey Otto

Harvey Wilcox Otto, 91, of Orlando, FL died at the Florida Hospital-East Orlando, Orlando, FL on December 31, 2010 from natural causes. He fell ill at his residence on New Years Eve and was rushed by ambulance to the hospital.

A native of Idaho and a retired broadcasting engineer for ABC Television, Harvey was a US Army veteran of World War II and a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. After being discharged from the US Army, Harvey went to college and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Television Engineering from the University of Chicago. He also was an extra and had some speaking parts in the television series – “General Hospital”, “ Barnie Miller” and “Young Marrieds”. Harvey stared on Broadway in “Born Yesterday” playing Ed Devery, “Dangerous Game” playing Judge Emile Carpeau and “Peter Pan“ playing Captain Hook. From 1956 thru 1981, Harvey worked for American Broadcasting Company as a production Engineer. Harvey was also a mixer for The Sinatra Show, The Lawrence Welk Shows, Hollywood Palace and the ABC Wide World of Sports Shows. His other credits also include the Final Post Production Editor for Prime Time Shows. Harvey won a EMMY for the Editor for the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, Canada. Harvey’s other avocations include a licensed commercial pilot and a Crop Duster. He loved to sail and “Campaigned” for 8 years on the Pacific Coast. He loved to play golf, was a horseman, a ball room dancer and loved dancing the American Smooth and Rhythm.

Harvey is survived by his companion, Eva Chrisman of Orlando;a daughter, Alella Santo and her husband, Gabe of Temecula, CA; a son, Kevan Otto of Temecula, CA and three grandchildren. He will be buried at the new Central Florida Veterans as soon as it is constructed.
