Howard Leon Wolfe (January 17, 1931-January 1, 2010)

Howard Leon Wolfe was born in Seminole, Oklahoma to mother, Maudie Gertrude Wolfe and father, Charlie Elbert Wolfe on January 17th, 1931.  He was raised among nine other siblings; Esther, Johnny, George,  Herman, Harold, Charlie Jr., Lincoln, Wesley and Shirley Wolfe.  Johnny (brother) died of pneumonia as a baby and was buried in Cherokee City, Oklahoma.  Howard is preceded in death by all of the above listed.

As a young man, Howard worked as a driver for Vierra Brothers Trucking Company before entering Naval Service.  He joined the U.S. Navy in 1950.  He served as a Radio Operator and worked aboard the USS Bayfield.  Decorations included the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal with recommendation for reenlistment upon honorable discharge in 1954.

A year after his discharge, he became a Christian, met and married his wife of fifty four years, Bobbie Jean (Smith) Wolfe.  Howard is survived by his wife and two children; Angela Joy (Wolfe) Scott and Shelly Ann (Wolfe) Korrot, four grandchildren; Jenica Noel (Scott) Gaskins, Britney Raye (Scott) Blanchard, Chapel Erin Korrot and Loni-Claire Alana Korrot, one great-grandchild; Layla Noel Gaskins, and two sons-in-law; Garry Ray Scott and Thomas Charles Korrot.

Upon marrying his wife, he worked for Killpest Pest Control Service in Stockton, California for 17 years.  He moved the family from Stockton to Siloam Springs, Arkansas in 1971.  There he worked as a building contractor for twenty six years.  During that time, he assisted with the building of the current facility of Siloam Springs First Assembly of God Church and years after its construction, worked to remodel the entire structure.  He later served as the superintendent over the construction of their Christian Life Center which included a gymnasium, multiple classrooms, commercial kitchen, and eventually another sanctuary.  Under his employ were several Siloam residents, including current resident contractor, Timothy Allen Jackson.

For the past fourteen years, he has resided with his wife in St. Petersburg, Florida, working as a security guard and delivering parts for Gulf Coast Auto, before retiring completely.  During the majority of his twenty six year tenure in Siloam Springs, he served on the church board at First Assembly of God and participated in several construction team, foreign missions projects.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting as well.

His Memorial Service will be held at the church of his membership, Suncoast Cathedral, 2300 62nd Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL on Monday, January 4th, 2010 at six o’clock in the evening.  The interment will be a private family gathering on Friday morning, January 8th, 2010 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, also located in St. Petersburg.  His was a life well-lived and he will be greatly missed.
