Smith, Irving B. 92, passed away on April 30, 2011 under the loving care of his family and Hospice.
Irving is survived by his wife Daisy, five children David R. Smith (Linda), Judy Nigro, Thelma Hamilton (David), Ann Heffelfinger (predeceased Bill), and Lorna Hicks (Chris). He also leaves behind sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Collinsville, CT, he worked with his father in the family business, “Ben Smith’s Clothing”. In 1970 he moved to Naples, Florida and later to Pinellas County in 1985. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He was a proud member of the VFW Post 4252, American Legion Chapter 119, DAV Chapter 11 and the Forgotten Korean Vets Inc. Irving also worked and traveled with the Renaissance Festival alongside his wife for many years. He loved being active and never met a stranger.
A graveside service with honors will be at 10:45 AM on Monday, May 16th at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St Petersburg, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760 – Ivory Team.
