Jack Gissiner, 76, of Clearwater, Florida passed away March 26th, 2011. Jack was born May 19, 1934 in Canton, OH.  He graduated from Lehman High School in Canton, OH and served in the US Coast Guard on the Vance- Escort Destroyer. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Ann Carr Gissiner; mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Snively of Wyomissing, PA; four sons, Jeffrey Roy Gissiner of North Canton, OH Cathy and son, Brian; Mark Andrew Gissiner and his wife, Cheryl, of Eugene, OR;  Steven Karl Gissiner, his wife, Jayne, and their children, Kathryn and David, of Ann Arbor, MI; and Timothy Jack Gissiner of Canton, OH.  Also surviving are his sisters, Jill Snively Thomas, her husband, Bill Thomas and their three sons, Christopher, Matthew and Evan of Mohnton, PA ; and Joan McMahan of Biloxi, MS, and his many friends and family. Jack was a Combustion Engineer, retired from Republic Steel and LTV Steel. A long-time member of the Masonic Lodge No. 770 of North Canton, OH, the Elks, the American Legion, and the VFW, he was also a charter member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He coached Little League Baseball and Youth Football for 18 years; was an avid fan of Ohio State University “Buckeye” Sports, and an avid golfer. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 31st at 4:30 p.m. at the Clearwater Travel Resort & RV Park. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to Shiners’ Hospital for Children, Tampa Unit or the Pinellas County Humane Society.
