Jack served his country in the US Navy. He was a teacher and had an advanced degree in Marine Biology. He loved the ocean and all things related to it. He was also very spiritual, loved to cook and work in his garden. He was loved deeply by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Doris Ferguson and his brother, Donald Jr. He is survived by his brother Michael; his sisters, Ann and Jennifer; and other family members and friends.
The family will hold a private memorial service for Jack.
Mike, Anne, Jennifer – and all of the Ferguson family – I’m so sorry to hear of Jack’s passing. I was out of town when I heard and did not know about his service. I’ll always remember Jack and will miss knowing he is with us. Thinking of you all – much love – Linda & Jim
When Jennifer called Saturday morning to tell me my friend had passed the wind absolutely left my sails- and has not returned. I could not talk to her I was so upset. Jack and I have been buddies almost 35 years beginning in 1978 aboard the destroyer USS Charles F. Adams. Jack was one of my best friends and I miss him dearly. He loved my wife and children and we are all heartbroken in his passing.
To Ann, Jennifer, and Mike (and Donnie) I loved your brother like one of my brothers and we had many, many good times together. Anna Maria, Is. will never be the same without Jack. He was intelligent, cultured, wise, witty, and made me a better person. I am thankful Jack P. Ferguson (Ferg) was part of my life. God Bless you all.

Jack was the first Ferguson I ever knew; little did I know there was a whole nest of Fergusons terrorizing Temple Terrace. I met Jack in home room class in high school. We had a few things in common like he and I were the oldest of our siblings. He had 2 brothers and 2 sisters and I had 2 brothers and one sister. Jack was a good hearted guy. We will all miss him and I am glad to count him as one of my friends along with the rest of the Ferguson family. Sheri and I want to offer our condolences and sorrow for the loss of such a great guy and brother and Uncle to the Ferguson clan. Jack is in a better place now and I can just see him and his younger brother Donny relaxing in a nice cool Florida spring. God Bless you Jack.
My dad and Jack were in the navy together, and reunited every time our family took a trip down to Florida. He’s connected to so many of my most precious memories with my family. He was always so quick to laugh and smile, so easy going and curious and kind. He’ll live in my memory in an eternal vacation, always sun-tanned and smiling, ready to soak up the sun and the sand and the water. My thoughts and prayers are with you all right now as we mourn the loss of Jack’s joyful presence.
Nantucket Bay family will miss you Jack! God Bless your family.
