James F. Gearhart, Jr., 49, formerly of Homer City, PA, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at his hoime in Clearwater, Florida. James was born in Johnstown, PA and was raised in Homer City, PA where he attended schools and later was employed as a truck driver for Sam Jack Drilling. He moved to Clearwater in 1984 and was an employee for Nelson Construction and Bob Owens Lawn Service before establishing his own business, Jim’s Classic Lawn Service. For the past ten years, Jim has also been employed in maintenance for the City of Clearwater’s Solid Waste Department.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marianne Zentner Gearhart, of Clearwater; his sons: Wesley, Casey, and Willy; his daughter, Chelsey; and his granddaughter, Amaya, all of Clearwater; his parents, James, Sr. and Mildred Penrod Gearhart of Homer City, PA; his sisters: Sharon Dressman, and her husband, Ken, of Morgantown, West Virginia, Carol Williams, and her husband, Edward, of Indiana, PA and Jane Gearhart of Homer City, PA; his brother, David, and his wife, Loretta, of Indiana, PA; his mother-in law, Eleanor Zentner, of Clearwater; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 27th at 6:30pm from Northwoods Community Church, 2295 McMullen-Booth Road, Clearwater with Pastor Neil Brown officiating.

Marianne, I was so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I know he meant a lot to Josh and his buddies in the neighborhood. Joshua always liked the way Jim took the time to play and talk with the boys.

Jim was a very well-liked and talented employee with a great sense of humor, who grew the most beautiful orchids and who was devoted to his three dogs. All in Solid Waste were shocked and deeply saddened by his passing. Our most sincere condolences to his family.
I was reading what Jim’s other friends had written about his sense of humor. I really appreciated that about him, he could be so funny! Whenever he laughed, I couldn’t help but smile because he laughed from his heart, so sincerely. He loved all of you so much, Marianne. I will miss him showing me his latest ’project’ and sharing his dreams about fixing up the R.V. I pray for all that he leaves behind.

Jim made a point of stopping by my desk every morning to just to say good morning or tell about his family, dogs or projects. He always seemed aware when others needed a joke or kidding about something to up lift them. He will be missed. May God will keep him till we see him again.
