 James “Jim” Michael Cox, 73, of Bradenton, FL died with his wife, Marilyn, and his children by his side, at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center, Bay Pines, Florida on May 17, 2010 from natural causes.

A native of Indianapolis, IN and a long time resident of North Vernon, IN, Jim moved with Marilyn to Bradenton, FL in 2009. Jim was a retired salesman for Culligan Water Systems; a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War Era; and a member of Am Vets, Moose Lodge, North Vernon, IN Aries #4097 (Eagles), and the Millersville York Rite, Indianapolis IN, Sojourner Lodge #768, F. & A.M..

Jim is survived by his loving family: his wife, Marilyn Cox of Bradenton, FL; two sons: Mitch Cox and his wife, Lennie of Charlotte, NC, and Chris Cox and his wife, Julie of Raleigh, NC; a daughter, Angie Workman and her husband, Steve of Woodbridge, VA; two stepsons: Wayne Huntzinger Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Whiteland, IN, and Robert Huntzinger and his wife, Lori of South Bend, IN; a brother, Jack Cox of Arlington, VA; a sister, Patti Fralich of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers-in-law: Col. Steve Cork-US Army Retired and his wife, Peg of Sarasota, FL, and Jack Cork and his wife, Judy of Venice, FL; twelve grandchildren: Steven Workman, Adam Workman, Jason Cox, Kendall Cox, Jamison Cox, Simon Cox, Emilia Cox, Brooke Huntzinger, Corbin Huntzinger, Kamryn Huntzinger, Allison Huntzinger and Jacob Huntzinger; and two great grandchildren: Addisyn Workman and Cailyn Workman.

Jim was a good and decent man. A tireless worker who enjoyed life to its fullest. A storyteller who laughed at every opportunity. A generous spirit who would do whatever he could to help someone in need, despite his own circumstances. An avid guitarist who will long be remembered for his version of “House of the Rising Sun”. A man who valued his independence and cherished his circle of family and friends. A gentle man, firm in his opinions yet fair and compassionate. An intelligent man with a wonderful smile and a tender heart. He will be greatly missed.

At the request of Jim, he will be buried at sea from a US Navy ship based at Jacksonville Naval Station, Jacksonville, FL.
