Jerry D. Fulwider Sr., 71, of St Petersburg, FL died at the Palms of Pasadena Hospital, Pasadena, FL on November 22, 2009 from natural causes. A native of Michigan City, IN and a local resident since 2001, when he moved here from Michigan City, IN. Jerry was a carpenter, a Lutheran and a Vietnam War Veteran that served during the Vietnam Era, Airman 1st Class, as a aircraft mechanic on the C-130 Hercules aircraft. During his military career, he was awarded an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and an Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Longevity Award, Expert Markmanship Ribbon.
He is survived by his fiancé, Muriel Roberts of St Petersburg, FL; four sons; Jerry Fulwider Jr. and his wife, Pam of Canton, GA, Ben Fulwider and his wife, Melinda of Gainesville, FL, Jamie Roberts and his fiancé, Robin Hamilton of Fishers, IN and Robert Fulwider and his wife, Julie of New Carlisle, IN; a daughter, Joy Bowers and her companion, David Dulworth of Celina, TN; His brothers and sisters: Linda Priddy and her husband, David of Las Vegas, NV, Sherry Kahl and her husband, Greg of Texas; Dale Gust of Crawfordsville, IN, Ronnie Gust of Windsor, VA, Robert Gust and his wife, Sue of Michigan City, IN, Larry Gust and his wife, Luvetta of Michigan City, IN, Mary Dombkowski and her husband, Patrick of Michigan City, IN, Fred Gust and his wife, Tanya of Chesapeake, VA, Judi Dismore and her husband, Jerry of Rolling Prairie, IN, , Phyllis Colborne and her husband, Ronald of Rolling Prairie, IN, Karen Burns of Michigan City, IN, Janice Masterson and her husband, David of La Porte, IN, 10 grandchildren: Randy Bowers and wife, Kim, Maribeth Fulwider, Brighid Fulwider, Kaitlin Fulwider, Cassady Fulwider, Ben Fulwider Jr., Aidan Fulwider, Isabella Fulwider, Thadd Munsey, Haylie Munsey and one great grandchild, Andrew Bowers, a host of nephews and nieces. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Fulwider and Wilma Gust, a brother, Richard Gust and two sisters, Carol Gust and Donna Harper. The family will receive friends at the Root Funeral Home. 312 East 7th Street, Michigan City, IN 46360 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 19, 2009. There is a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery, 153 Tilden Avenue, MIchigan City, IN at 3:30 PM, Saturday afternoon, directly after the visitation at the Root Funeral Home with the United States Air Force Honor Guard from Scott AFB, IL, officiating.
