Joe Allen Wilson, EMP 3, US Navy-Korean War Veteran, of Valrico, FL funeral service is 2:30 PM, Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 with Captain Art Nave and the Marion County Military Honor Guard providing full military honors. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, February 11, 2013 from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview, Florida.
Joe was born on July 25, 1932 in Baxley, Georgia and a local resident since 1941, when he moved here from Ocala, Florida. After his discharge from the US Navy, he worked as an Equipment Operator for Alcoa and was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Moose Lodge. He attended Brandon Fellowship Baptist Church in Brandon, Florida.
He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was discharged as an EMP3 and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and served aboard the USS Mosopelea (ATF 158).
Joe is survived by his loving family; his wife, Juanita Wilson of Valrico, Florida; sons, Mike Wilson and his wife, Brenda of Lutz, Florida; Darrell Wilson and his wife, Kim of Zephyrhills, Florida and David Kelly and his wife, Traci of Valrico, Florida; his daughters, Cathy Day of Bainbridge, Georgia; Rebecca Wilson of Lutz, Florida; Cheryl Goodwin of Tampa, Florida; Gail Kelly of Tampa, Florida and Karen Boyette and her husband, Gary of Valrico, Florida; a sister, Sara St. Amant of Lithia, Florida and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joe, you were a blessing! Will always remember your recipe concoctions, great sense of humor, but most of all your great smile! Go rest high on that mountain because you’ve certainly earned it. We love you.
