John C. “Jack” Nursey, 89, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Largo Medical Center. Visitation is Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Global Mortuary, 7210 Ulmerton Road, Largo, FL 33771 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, FL 33504. Preceded in death by a son, Randy Nursey in 1985, Jack is survived by his loving family: wife, Margaret of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter, Carol Earl Medlin Alberson of Greensboro, NC; sons, John Sharon Nursey of Winter Springs, FL; Steven GlendaNursey of Sarasota, FL; Robin Kriste Nursey of Melbourne, FL; Roger Beth Nursey of Greensboro, NC; sister, Mary Cranford of San Diego, CA; nine grandchildren: Luke Medlin, Aaron Nursey, John Medlin, Stephanie Nursey, Craig Nursey, Jake Nursey, Eric Nursey, Derek Nursey, Michelle Nursey; two great grandchildren Sierra Nursey and Caleb Nursey; and two very special friends, Michele and Gary Koonz of St. Petersburg, FL. During World War II, he served in the US Army Air Corps as a tail gunner in a bomber. A retired jeweler, Jack continued for many years to create exquisite pieces of jewelry for family and friends. Jack was a big fan of the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team; he loved his dog “Poppy” and his Himalayan cats. He was a passionate bowler who bowled a perfect 300 game at age 80. He will be remembered for his integrity, kindness and great sense of humor.
