John “Johnny” Hernandez, 79, of Lakeland, FL, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2013 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
A celebration of life service will be held at Lakeland First Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1435 Gilmore Avenue on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 10:30 AM; Pastor Ron Hoffecker will be officiating. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
John was born January 14, 1934 in the Bronx, New York and lived on the island of Puerto Rico for a short time. Soon after he moved and resided in Florida for over 40 years. On September 22, 1962 he married Josefina Rivera. John served our country in the US Air Force and the US Marine Corp as a Sergeant in Intelligence. He was employed as an insurance agent and was one of the leading agent’s in his region. He enjoyed witnessing for Christ and giving Bible studies. He also enjoyed reading, playing chess, listening to classical music and spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Josefina Hernandez; three daughters, Maria Llanes, Carlota Rodriguez, and Jeane Vincent; his brother Charlie Hernandez of Puerto Rico; and several nieces and nephews, in both New York and Puerto Rico.
