John Paul Basinski, aged 79, passed away peacefully at the Veteran’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida on Monday, July 7, 2008 from leukemia. Surviving are his beloved companion, Karen Theis; his sons: Stephen Susan Basinski, and Mark Rebecca Basinski; his brother, James Basinski; his sisters: Mary Edward Haberman, and Dollie Crockett; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lottie Mosuk Basinski, and brothers, Jerry and Robert.
John lived life to its fullest and was an avid golfer and bowler. He will be missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the Dominican Center at Marywood Academy, 2025 E. Fulton, Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 9AM parking off Lakeside. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Leukemia Foundation in John’s memory.
