In honor of a giant of a man in my eyes; a man who was responsible for helping encourage a badly injured pregnant military widow to live after losing her husband, and then corresponding with her from the Korean war fields to make sure that she and the developing baby survived the trauma. He later married her upon returning to the States and that baby (13 months old) was me. I owe my very life to Daddy and will forever be grateful for his love, guidance, strength and friendship. He was my true Hero, and I will miss him til the day that I die and join him and Mom in Heaven. Of all the people that shaped my life, John Hanie was the most powerful influence of all. A kind, honest and generous man died on July 11,2013, a member of the Greatest Generation. The world will has lost a humble and righteous man and my heart is truly broken. I will love you forever, Daddy. Rest in peace until we meet again.
