John Wesley Cox, 86, of Tampa, died Friday evening, March 12, 2010 at Melech Hospice House, Temple Terrace.

Born in Quincy, FL, he retired as a block mason.  He served as Quartermaster in the US Army during WWII, earning the rank of Corporal.  He was awarded the Philippine Liberation Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Medal, the Asian-Pacific Theater Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

He leaves to cherish memories of his; (sons) Terry Armstead, John R. Cox, Wesley Lee Cox Sr.,Troy A. Cox, Herbert J. Cox, Tony D.Cox Sr., and Ron K. Cox; (daughters) Marzette Williams, Vecelia Cox, Kathleen Cox-Sconiers, Cunora Cox-Waltower, and Ann E. Williams; (grandchildren) Elijah Williams III, Warren O. Williams, Teresa Cox-Terry, Nicholas A. Cox Sr.,Lafaye Armstead, Felicia Cox, Wesley Cox Jr., Jamon Cox, Latoya Cox, Justin Cox, Terry Armstead Jr., Michael Cox, Brianna Cox, Troy Cox Jr., Tirea Cox, Danielle Cox, Tony D. Cox, Jr., Ari and Luke Cox; (brother) Felix J. Cox, Jr.; (sister) Carolyn Cox; (brother in law) Morris Armstead; (sister in law) Willie Belle Sanders; (nephews and nieces) Juanita Green, Sandra Wilson, Reginald Sanders, Wayne sanders, Willie Mae Van Horn, David Armstead Jr.,Rex Armstead, Frasier Armstead, Alfonso Armstead and Pamela Armstead; (daughters-in-law) Reca Cox andTangela Cox; (son-in-law) Eric Waltower; (sister-in-law) Eloise Armstead and a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.

A graveside service with full military honors will be presented at 2:30PM on Fri., March 19th at FL National Cemetery by the Sumter Volunteer Honor Guard, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell 33513 (Exit 309 on I-75).
