Joseph A. Masiello, 82, of Tampa, FL passed away at the Woodbridge Nursing and Rehab Center, Tampa, FL on January 11, 2008 after a brave battle with cancer. A native of Alexandria, VA and Washington, D.C.; he was a US Navy Veteran of World War II; Served on the USS Black Hawk and the USS Antares and during his US Navy career, Joe was awarded a World War II Victory Medal, American Medal and Asiatic Pacific Medal. After leaving the Navy, he returned to The George Washington University, where he received a B.S. in Engineering. He spent over 40 years as a Patent Researcher and Consultant. He enjoyed traveling, dancing and was an avid horse racing fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Georgia Masiello and a brother, Harry Masiello, he is survived by his daughter, Dawn Masiello of Tampa, FL; a brother, Frank Masiello of Canton, NC; and former wife, Annette Masiello of Alexandria, VA. I was a childhood friend of Dawn’s. We lived across the street from each other for many years in Bowie. I remember Dawn’s father taking us for rides in his mustang. He used to take us for ice cream and also shopping at such a young age!. I remember him being the coolest father on the street because of his cool car!
I was saddened to hear of his passing but wanted to let the family members know that “he is not forgotten” by others outside of the family circle.
I have always wondered about Joe 😭😭🌷🕊️
