Lennis F. Gregory, 81, of Ft. Branch , peacefully passed away on Tuesday, April 28, at the VNA Hospice Center in Evansville . He was born August 8, 1926, in Oakland City , Indiana .
Lennis served in the army during World War II. Upon returning home, he graduated from Evansville College and earned a Master¢s Degree in education from Indiana University . He taught for 14 years at Delaware grade school and then worked for Franklin Life Insurance Company for 30 years.
Lennis attended St. Mark¢s United Methodist Church , which later became Hillside United Methodist Church , of Princeton , Indiana . He was a past Sunday school teacher and enjoyed singing in the church choir and participating in various church activities.
He enjoyed being with his family, traveling, working in his yard, bird watching and hiking.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Iola Gregory Rohl, who was from Ft. Branch , Indiana .
Lennis is survived by his daughter, Anne Gregory of Evansville; son Stan Gregory and his wife Susan of Evansville; two grandchildren, Andrea Gregory of Evansville and Brandon Gregory of Carmel, Indiana; two brothers, Noral Gregory and his wife Juanita of Ft. Worth, Texas, and John Phillips of Oakland City; two sisters, Eulabelle Wilkins and her husband, Jerry, of Oakland City, and Jeannie Lee of Brownsburg, Indiana; sister- and brother-in-law Charles and Betty Adams of Ft. Branch; and sister-in-law Jean Sollman of Ft. Branch.
He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, family and friends.
A Memorial Celebration will be held on Saturday, May 17, 11:00 a.m., at Hillside United Methodist Church , in Princeton , Indiana . Lunch will follow the celebration.
