Veterans Funeral Care Leo Walter Jr.

Leo Andrew Walter, Jr., age 60, passed away on February 1, 2011 at the James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa, FL. He was born on May 19, 1950 in Elyria, Ohio to the late Leo A. and Olevia Catherine (Schaefer) Walter, Sr. He was a native of Northern Ohio and a Largo, Florida resident since 1999.

Leo served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a wonderful and loving father and grandfather. He was also a postal worker, fireman for Carlisle Township Fire Department, and a self-employed businessman. He enjoyed his grandkids, animals and was a supporter of the Disabled American Veterans, National MS Society and Humane Society.
 

He was very loved and was never happier than when he was with his grandkids. He had a great sense of humor and loved animals, especially Max and “Wishes”. He will be extremely missed by his family and friends.
 

He is survived by 3 daughters, Jamie Walter of Pineville, LA formerly of Medina, OH; Kristi Walter of Wimberley, TX; and Kelly and husband Cody Stevens of Wimberley, TX; 1 sister Linda (Walter) Bliss of LaGrange, OH; and 5 grandchildren Joseph Greller, Luke Townsend, Kylie Walter, Michael Scislo and Shalynn Stevens.
 

Leo will be cremated and interned at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. There will be a memorial service with military honors for family and friends in the spring in Elyria, Ohio.
