Laverne, we are very sorry that Les has passed on, but he and Hiram are probably having a great time with Jesus. I don’t think we will be able to make the trip down and we are very sorry for that. Love to you and the rest of the family. God Bless you all.
Laverne and Family,
May God bless you with comfort, peace and the joy of knowing that you will see him again. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We love you!!
The angels in Heaven are busy keeping Uncle Les and Pop in line! I miss Daddy so much, but I know he’s finally content and well. Uncle Les was so much a part of his life that I’m sure that Pop was waiting at Heaven’s gate for him! Aunt Laverne, may you find peace and comfort in knowing that so many people have been blessed by you and Uncle Les! I will never forget coming to your house when I was growing up and feeling so important and loved! May the Lord bless you and keep you in His loving and comforting arms!
Better known to me as “dat man”, you will be dearly missed by so many. Tell Grandma and Grandpa McMillan I love and miss them. RIP… We all love you. <3

Dear Lavern and family,
My fondest memories of living at Pinewood was having Les & Lavern as my neighbors. When Les saw me working in the yard one day, he yelled over “I wish I could give you a hand!” I remember my old neighbor with a smile. Always will.
I smile back to you, Les. Now Heaven is blessed with you as it’s neighbor. :-)
With sincere sympathies to you all,
Love,Linda
I am deeply Sorrowful to the Shepherd family in their pain in losing Les. He was a wonderful man and will greatly be missed by everyone. I will forever be grateful to the Shepherd family for letting me a part of this family. If I wasn’t at Nancy’s house, she was at mine. Her parents were my 2nd parents. They even let me live in their home and took care of me as if I was one of their own when I had nowhere to go. I will forever love this family.
Oh my, what sad news. I didn’t know Leslie & Laverne as well as I did their daughter Theresa. From what I did know they were kind, caring people. He passed at a wonderful time in a way though, Easter……….. He is now in heaven and he is resting in peace with no pain. My thoughts are with the whole family, I know you are all so very close. Love Kathy Bishop Thoreson
I had the privelege of knowing Les Shepherd for many years. Les was the finest person that you will ever meet. He loved his family to the ultimate. Les loved LaVerne for more than 64 years in marriage. That definitely signifies his dedication and love of his family. Les was fair and generous to all. Les left his mark on this earth and will be missed. Les is now with God in Heaven.
As well as I knew uncle Less and as much time as I spent with them. There were a few things I did not know. I knew he was a veteran and I think he retired from the army reserve. I did not know he was a war hero. I was amazed at the fact he received 3 Bronze Star medals. That is incredible. I did not know he had boots in the sand during the liberation of the Phillipines. Makes me proud to know this…
On a lighter note, he and my dad were the focus of many comical events over the years. One was when they were doing some project at our house. They were cutting plywood on a wooden table in our garage. I am not sure which one was cutting and which one was holding but together they cut through the table. Another time they were launching the boat at Sweetwater and Less was on the dock and my dad was in the boat. Less had the rope wrapped around his hand and told dad to back it off the trailor. Yep, he pulled him right off the dock and into the lake. Great times. I will always remember the good times.
Im so sorry to hear about dad passing, but, Im taking comfort in knowing hes with ,Jesusand ,i will seehim again. Love you all, rusty
Laverne, we were very sorry to hear about Les. We will keep you and your family in our prayers. Wish we could be down there to give you a hug. Love to you and your kids….
Jason,
Everyone at ImageFIRST has you and your family in their thoughts and prayers.
Laverne, we are so sorry for your loss. We spent many a night with you and Les and Bob and Norma playing cards and laughing. What great times. I think the one thing I remember about Les was that I never once heard him curse. I do remember a lot of “hecky dern’s” and “dang nabit’s”. That alone says a lot. Be strong dear lady, you have a loving family to take care of you.
I knew him he was my sons Great Grandfather very sweet and loving and Every way ..Was always so good to me no matter what happen with his grand son and me ..He was the best great grandpa that my son could ever have we love you Leslie always…
Great-Uncle Les was a fantastic man who loved his family dearly! I had such good times with Uncle Les & Aunt Laverne. Rest in peace
Uncle Les was always such a kind and wonderful man with a big smile on his face. He will be greatly missed by all. My heart and prayers go out to Aunt Laverne….and all of the Shepard family. Sending much love to you all.
Uncle Les, what a wonderful man. He was a man that always showed respect to everyone. I never heard the man curse which was hard not to do being around me growing up, lol. I will miss you Uncle Les. We had some good times going to florida on vacation. Also all the times we spent at the lake, and the track, and all the holidays. I wish we could have seen you more these last few years but things change so I guess I will see you when the lord says front and center to me. Love you, and Aunt Laverne… GOD BLESS YOU BOTH!
