Veterans Funeral Care Lewis Sproles

Lewis Paul Sproles, 88, MSG-US Army-Retired of Brandon, FL funeral service is 11:00AM, Friday, July 9, 2010 at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Road, Brandon, FL 3351 with Reverend Robert Anderson, Pastor Buddy Payne, Pastor Scott Athey and Pastor Skip Athey, all to officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Graveside services and full military honors will be at 2:30 PM, Friday afternoon, July 9, 2010 with military honors being provided by the United States Army from FT Stewart at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513.

A native of Gibson Station, VA and a local resident since 1981, when he moved here from Chantilly, VA; he was a retired Chef; a Baptist; a member of the American Legion, A member of the DAV and World War II and Korean War Veteran. During his military service, he was awarded the National Defense Medal; United Nations Service Medal; a Good Conduct medal with 2 loops and a Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars. Lewis loved telling stories when he was growing up in rural Tennessee. He loved his family.

Lewis was born on December 19, 1921 in Gibson Station, VA and died at the The Consulate Health Care in Brandon, FL on July 3, 2010. He is predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Nancy Sproles and a son, Stevie and Lewis is survived by his wife of 65 years, Thelma Sproles of Brandon, FL; his four daughters: Linda Messina and her husband, Joel of Plant City, FL; Nancy Cooprider and her husband, Terry of Brandon, FL; Yvonne Perkins and her husband, Ron of Wesley Chapel, FL and Cathy Long of Brandon, FL; a son-in-law, Chris Long of Brandon, FL; a sister, Ruth Drummonds of New Tazewell, TN; Harvey Bouchard and other family members; nine grandchildren: Christopher Cooprider, Skip Athey, Scott Athey, Christopher Oldfield, Matthew Oldfield, Stephanie Bouchard, Ryan Bouchard, Brandi Long and Kristen Long and nine great grandchildren: Lauren Hendley, Leah Hendley, Kameron Athey, Mandy Athey, Karson Athey, Kaden Athey, Cody Athey, Jade McKnight and Pierce Bouchard.

The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, to please make a donation to Bell Shoals Baptist Church Building Fund in the memory of Lewis Paul Sproles, MSG-US Army Retired.
