Lloyd J. Clayton “Poppy” of Largo, FL passed away December 23, 2012 at Bay Pines VA Health Care System.
Raised in Union Beach, NJ, he worked in his father’s boat building business, J.V. Clayton Boat Works. He honorably served for four years in the US Coast Guard. He moved his family in 1972 and was employed by Gulf Star Yachts in St. Petersburg, FL.
He is survived by his lovely, loving wife of 48 years, Joan; son, Lloyd Jr. and his son, Ty; daughter, Joey Lynn and her children, Briana and Chase; and a great grandson, Khymani.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Bay Pines VA Health Care System, PO Box 5005, Sect. 135, Bay Pines, FL 33744 (write Hospice in the "memo").

Poppy, was so easy, laid back, kind hearted man. It saddened my heart to hear of his passing. But I know that he is at rest with the Lord. This family will always be apart of my family. God bless Lloyd Clayton, and his lovely wife!!

Uncle Lloyd, my fondest memory is of you teaching me how to ride a dirt bike down at Indian Rocks Beach. Not many uncles would be as patient with their niece, but you were! Many laughs and good times shared. Aunt Jo, Joey, Lloyd and family, you will be in our thoughts and prayers, may you find peace in the good memories that you have.

Uncle Lloyd, I will always remember you when I reflect on my early childhood years growing up in florida. Throwing me time and time again in Nanny’s pool. Great memories. Im also happy you were able to meet my wife and children that night we had dinner when we visited. Our prayers and thoughts will be with you aunt Joanne, joeylynn and Lloyd. God bless.
