Sowers, Louis Elwood, 88

Died July 20, 2009 in Safety Harbor, FL

He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Fay (Noble) Sowers, his son, Larry Sowers of Dayton, Ohio, his daughter, Deborah Coffey of Lawrenceville, GA, and daughter, Sue Buchholtz of Safety Harbor, FL. He also leaves behind grandsons: Donald Sowers, John Sowers, Brian Coffey, Jarad Sergent, Michael Coffey, Jeremy Sergent; and his only granddaughter, Donna Campbell. Great-grandchildren left behind are Jennifer Campbell, Rebecca Campbell, Kayla Campbell and Deven John Sowers. Also left behind are daughter-in-law, Wanda Sowers; sons-in-law, Jim Coffey and Fred Buchholtz; and many nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Louis was preceded in death by his father, Louis Elmer Sowers, his mother Carrie (Goosey) Sowers, his brother William Paul Sowers, and his grandson, Joshua Sergent.

Louis was so very loved by all of his family, whom he also loved dearly. He lived an honorable, Christian life and set a fine example for his family.

He joined the army on June 16, 1942 during WWII. He married the love of his life, Fay Noble on December 18, 1943. After the military he went to electronics school in Chicago and learned radio & television repair, which became a hobby of his well up into his older years. He and Fay raised their family in the Dayton, Ohio area. He became a skilled carpenter and worked as Superintendent for Shook Construction Co. as well as Petersons Construction until his retirement.

He and his wife Fay then became antique dealers and traveled to many states participating in antique shows. They had an antiques store in Union, Ohio & later in West Milton, Ohio. They moved to Dothan, AL where they were devoted members of Bethel Baptist Church. They continued their antiques business and had booths in the Land of Cotton Antique Mall. He was in his 80s when he & Fay decided to truly retire. They moved to Ohio and later to Safety Harbor, FL.

His smile instantly warmed the hearts of all he met. His sparkling blue eyes were captivating. He was always helping others. His life enriched all those that were fortunate to know him. He will forever be remembered and cherished.

His body will be cremated and the family will be having a cremation burial and graveside memorial service at Eaton Cemetery in Clay City, KY. at 1PM on Sat., August 15, 2009. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, charitable donations be made to P.A.R.C. of Pinellas County, FL to benefit special needs children and adults.
