Marcos Santiago, 84, of St Petersburg, FL died on April 27, 2008 at St. Petersburg General Hospital, St. Petersburg, FL and of natural causes. A native of Lagas, Puerto Rico and a local resident since 2005, when he moved here from Guanica, Puerto Rico; he was a Christian; a Rigger in the construction field; a US Army Veteran serving during the World War II and being awarded the American Theater Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and two overseas bars. Predeceased by his parents, Francisco Perez and Isabel Santiago and a daughter, Elizabeth Alas, Marcos is survived by his wife, Ramonita Torres of St. Petersburg, FL; two sons; Rene Santiago of St. Petersburg, FL and William Santiago and his wife, Christina of Tampa, FL; three daughters: Norma Lara and her husband, Fernando of St. Petersburg, FL, Carmen Santiago of Guanica, Puerto Rico and Hilda Jimenez and her husband, Louis of Cleveland, OH and seventeen grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 1, 2008 beginning at 12:30 PM at the Harvest Temple Church “House of Prayer Building”, 11301 Walsingham Road, Largo, FL 33774 and a funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM with Pastor Tim Hamm, officiating and full military honors by the VFW Post # 9272. Internment will be private at Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines, FL.
