Margaret Estel Thomas Strauss, 88, of Clearwater, FL, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 22, 2008 at Mease Countryside Hospital.
“Tommie” was born in Nowata, Oklahoma on June 10, 1920 to Daniel and Alice Thomas. She moved to the Tampa Bay area from Baltimore, MD in 1978. She met her husband, Capt. Stanley Strauss, at Ft. Polk, Leesburg, Lousiana and was married in New Orleans on April 16, 1942. She was an US Army veteran of WWII, serving in the Nurse Corps, earning the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. She was a civilian nurse in Milan Arsenal, TN. She also has a commercial pilots license.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Stanley; two sons, Leonard of Rogue River, OR and Irving of Orem, UT.
