Margaret Horton, 94, passed away on April 13, 2013 in St. Petersburg, FL.
She was born in Buffalo NY, December 6, 1918, and raised in Hamburg, NY. She and her husband moved to Florida in 1969 from Texas.
Margaret made friends feel like part of the family and many called her Mom. She was strong willed, and believed that anything could be accomplished if you set your mind to it. She overcame many obstacles that the Lord threw her way, but it was the Alzheimers Disease that she was not able to defeat.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin J. Horton, and daughter, Patricia L. Horton. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Mednick, son-in-law, Howie Mednick, of Lutz, grandson, Mark Patterson, and great grandchildren, Austin, Alexa, Aalyssa and Aalani Patterson. Margaret was loved by all who knew her.
Margaret will be cremated and her ashes scattered at sea where she will be joined by her husband and daughter who predeceased her. Mom can be memorialized by a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, www.alzfdn.org.

Barbara,
I was one of those lucky individuals that called her mom. She always made me feel like family. Your mom was strong, kind and funny! She had a great laugh and she will be missed. I have so many fond memories of your mom and it was my pleasure to know her and call her mom.
Blessings to Barbara & Howard Mednick and all of the Family for the loss of Barbara’s Mother.
They are such a loving Family who gave so much love and care to her Mom. She must be smiling down from Heaven. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
With Love and Aloha, Helen Carroll

Heaven has another Angel.
Barb, Howie and family, I am sorry for your loss and that of my Aunt Marg. I have many wonderful memories of ’Joe and Marg’. They were especially welcoming to Doug and then my Mom when they moved to St. Petersburg. I always enjoyed their zest for living life fully and positive spirit. God bless you all, Cindy.
Dear Barb, Howie and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. It’s never easy to lose someone, especially Mom. I only had the chance to know Margaret for a short time. She was obstinate, funny, intelligent and fiercely independent. God Bless her and all of you too!
Much Aloha,
Katie
Sleep on beloved sleep and take your rest, we love you but Jesus loves you best.
Dear Barbara, Howie and Family,
I was saddened to learn of Margaret’s passing. I always enjoyed my conversations with her. She was a dynamic individual with an awesome sense of humor and a very strong will. I am sure these attributes helped her deal with the many challenges she endured in her lifetime.
My family and I know fist hand the devastation Alzheimer’s Disease can cause the individual as well as the family members.
Margaret is now at peace with Austin and Patty and I am sure looking down with love on her entire family.
Sincerely,
Hal Tompkins
